We are not opening the garden in 2018—except for a view garden club visits in July

One of Alan Titchmarsh's "best back gardens"...

A Garden in a Sublime River Setting

River Barn is a magical 3.5 acre garden close to the ancient market town of Malmesbury.

The house is part of a former model farm and planting began in 2007 to create an arboretum and wildflower areas with a wildlife pond.

The walled courtyard garden is a favorite with a koi carp pond embellished with mosaics, a rose pergola and interesting planting. A formal terraced lawn overlooks the Avon.

There is a pygmy pinetum, stone circle, fruit and vegetable garden.

Our Green Footprint

Our desire was, and is, to create an ecologically sensitive space; a home for wildlife as well as being a place for people to delight in.

The barn is warmed by a ground source heat pump and the electricity used to power it comes partly from our solar panels.

We recycle rain water, collecting thousands of litres in a buried tank.

All useable organic waste is composted in our huge oak bins and then used in the garden.
